WATER! WATER! WATER!

"WA-DAH! WA-DAH! WA-DAH!" you would scream with fingers pointing.
"OH WA-DAH! WA-DAH! WA-DAH!" continual screaming until we affirm your discovery of a lake, pond, swimming pool, fountain, or even puddle.

When you were about 22 months, we went back to Hong Kong and discovered your fearless love of swimming. You don't know how to hold your breath or close your eyes underwater but it doesn't stop you from getting right into the pool. You could be shivering from the cold water but if we were to take you out, NO, NO, NO! WATER! along with kicking and screaming resulted.

We took you to Tai Hang Country Club and Victoria Park swimming pools. Daddy threw you into the air and let you sink underwater for a split second. You splashed with your hands and screeched your voice full of excitement. The swimming must have been the highlight of your trip back to Hong Kong.

When we return to the States, we searched everywhere online to look for a pool for you to swim in. Luckily, Amurai's mom recommended Berkeley High School pool because the parent-baby classes, warm pool, and indoor facilities. We even went to Target to purchase a 10ft x 30 inch inflatable pool to put in the backyard for you. After several sessions, you can blow bubbles, splash hands, kick feet, lay on your back, hold onto side rail, and jump off the side of the pool.

Swimming is a very important skill. We are so thrill that you are loving it. We look forward to see you learning and growing in the water.

奉主名求...AMEN

Lucas,

Starting when you don’t want your father to tuck you in anymore, mommy has been going to bed with you. You make me stay there until you fall sleep. The funny thing is mommy falls asleep way before you do most of the time. Somehow my snoring, which I like to call it heavy breathing, will calm you down and help you go to sleep. Every night, we will do a short prayer with your little hands together, you will then finish the prayer with an “AMEN”.

Yesterday when I hopped onto the bed, laid there with my arms wrapped around you, you closed your eyes and babbled for a good minute. I had no clue what you were doing until you paused, and said “AMEN”. Then, you opened your eyes and started giggling. Your little eyes gazed at me, earnestly searching for my acceptance. At that moment, I realized this little boy is constantly being influenced by everything I do and my living example can be very powerful or destructive, vice versa.

I know you are only doing this now to please me, but mommy prays that you will continually pray to God because He really wants to be your best friend. Mommy is not perfect, and I will never be. I am not the best role model which you will soon find out. I pray that you will come to know God yourself as you grow. There will be times mommy won’t be around you, and times when you don't want me around, but He will be there for you and guide you through the ups and downs in life.

Praying for your salvation,

Mom
