Sleeping through the night...
Last night was the first night Baby Lucas slept through the night. It was amazing. Paulina woke me up this morning very surprised and amazed. She could not stop talking about it. Let's hope he continues it. I think it was about five hours of sleep. He was very fussy right before bed and would not eat even though he was hungry. After trying to calm him down for about two hours, he finally was willing to eat and went to bed soon afterwards. We are still somewhat in awe... it might take some adjustment but we look forward to more nights like these.

Smiling and Drooling
This week baby Lucas started smiling and drooling. Wait a minute, don't babies drool from the very beginning? That is why they have a bib right? Well, baby Lucas wears the bib because he usually vomits some milk within a half hour after eating. It's probably because the milk hasn't made it all the way down the stomach yet. Burping helps.
Baby Lucas started rubbing his hands on his mouth getting his hand and face all wet. Soon after we notice this self soothing motion of what appears to be sucking his hand, he started drooling. This could be the beginning stages of teething. A few days after the drooling, he started making bubbles with his drool. How fun.

If you have seen pictures of baby Lucas, you probably seen some with him smiling. Did you notice his eyes closed for those pictures. This is just a muscle reflex. Somewhere in the second week we notice baby Lucas smiling in his sleep but never smiling while awake. Well last week we started seeing his smile with his eyes open.

Family Joke
Ray and I do a lot of talking in the car, if I'm not asleep. So..here goes our typical day conversation:
Bo: Did you grab the thermos in the kitchen?
Ray: UH!!! I keep forgetting things. I just can't multi-task...have to do things one at a time.
Bo: giggling..It's okay! It can be a good thing. That means you only have the capacity to love one woman at a time. hee!
Ray: LOL!!!!
Lucas was sleeping like a sheep as always during our little convo. Wonder when he will start to understand our silly jokes.

Two Month Review
Baby Lucas has been here for two months and he is constantly changing. He started out looking very plump but this is due to the water retention while in the mommy's womb and slight swelling from the delivery. He was a 8 lbs baby and his face does look very big but he was actually very small and seemed somewhat fragile. Within a few hours, his face shrunk a bit and we found out he lost some weight. By the third day he lost a whole pound which was about 13% of his body weight. That's like me losing 18 lbs in two days, very scary. We found out he was dehydrated since he had trouble suckling milk from mommy due to tongue tie. We put him on formula and got his tongue clip and on the fourth day, you can see his cheeks plump up a bit.
He has a tendency to smile while he is asleep which is actually a muscle reflex and not because he is having wonderful dreams. The sleeping smiling is shown on day 24 and 31. While awake he likes to make a O-shape with his mouth seen on day 4 and 8. Three weeks ago, he developed baby acne all over his face shown on day37, bottom left corner. Last week he started smiling while awake shown on day 40 and 48, the last two pictures.
From a parents perspective, these changes were very apparent especially when he carry him around. His height and weight gain is very noticeable as well as the face change. He changes so fast, we really have to cherish this time with him.

Baby Lucas likes baths and bathrooms
Baby Lucas is short tempered and very fussy but we have a secret. Whenever he starts screaming, daddy would put him on the changing table and like a magic switch, he stops crying. We don't know if it is the plastic texture of the changing pad or the colorful mommy's underwear dangling above for drying. He just stops crying which makes changing diapers a real treat for daddy.
Another secret to calm baby Lucas' frustration, BATHS! He loves baths. It could be the water or the bathroom environment, we are not sure but he calms down immediately from screaming. Maybe baby Lucas doesn't like clothes and prefers to be in the nude. He likes being naked but when mommy starts hearing the sneezes, the clothes must be applied.

Just in case you were wondering - the black box is to retain baby Lucas' dignity when he is old enough to read this blog. Maybe I should use a larger box... hahaha.
